Abstract

Abstract

Heart failure is caused by several heart diseases such as myocardial infarction, hypertension, cardiomyopathy, and it has significant high mortality and morbidity rate. It is revealed that neurohormonal system activation has important role on the pathogenesis of heart failure in the last twenty years. Thereafter, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and beta-blockers constitute most important portion of heart failure therapy. Accordig to large randomized and placebo-controlled studies, long-term beta-blocker therapy in heart failure improve left ventricle ejection fraction and cardiac function, and it is associated with significant improvement in rate of hospitalisation and in cardiac mortality.
